What’s new in event desserts?

August 24, 2024Lauren Windle

Some of the latest trends we’re seeing this year, you may also be seeing on cooking shows and at premium restaurants.

Here’s what’s new, fun and delicious!

  • Dessert boards and platters offer something for everyone and Tare a big hit at weddings, baby showers, and holiday parties.
  • Artisanal Desserts are lovely to look at and incredibly delicious! We add multiple shimmery layers of plant-derived herbs and fruit emulsions over ice creams and glicees. Or crème brule with unusual and decadent flavors.
  • Flaming Coffee bar – Is just what it sounds like. With every type of shot you can imagine. Then, set afire. Great fun and a lasting tribute to any special event.
  • Caffeine-essenced desserts such as while latte, mocha, chai, matcha, and Earl Grey flavored cakes, pies, donuts, and ice creams.  Sometimes layered with complementary flavors like pumpkin, cream cheese, and vanilla. Oh, yum!
  • Globally inspired desserts such as French macarons, flaky pastries, and delicate chocolate truffles are in higher demand in metro areas than ever before. Even cookies are getting the international treatment with additions of star anise, chipotle, turmeric, and cayenne.
  • Sweet and spicy dessert flavors like black pepper, cardamom, and rosemary might not be traditional for desserts but the combination of spicy and sweet packs an extra punch in desserts. We are experimenting with yuzu, ginger, and passion fruit.
  • Themed 3D Cakes are sculptural, edible works of art. Working with stiff Italian meringue buttercream, moldable fondant, and tempered chocolate, we know bakers that can create realistic and fantastical scenes to wow your guests.
